Split Ring Assembly Machine

Split Ring Assembly Machine

The Model 9000 Assembly Machine substantially reduces operator training in assembling component parts, allowing users to become proficient in a very short period of time. It also eliminates fatigue and harmful rotary wrist movement often found to be a problem in manual operations.

The Worth Model 9000 Split Ring Assembly Machine is a fully automated self-indexing device for attaching split rings to one or more independent components. Rings are fed from a vibratory supply bowl to a transfer arm which relocates the ring between four rotating fingers. A sensor arm then locates the opening in the ring, indexing and opening it at the front of the machine. Parts may now be applied to the ring.

Upon actuating a foot switch, the ring is rotated to complete the assembly of the part, then released and a new ring is brought into position. Minor adjustments are required to convert between size 4 fine and size 5 fine split rings. Modification kits are available for sizes 2-1⁄2 fine, 3 fine and 6 fine.

The assembly machine utilizes solid state proximity sensors to check ring position thereby eliminating mechanical switch adjustments and fatigue. Air cylinders are used for mechanical actuation to reduce heat, wear, and eliminate electrical shock hazards. All movements are controlled by a solid-state programmable computer.
